Community Project Funds
Community Project Funds are non-endowed funds held at the Battle Creek Community Foundation for various projects, groups, and organizations within the Battle Creek area. They provide an important opportunity for the Community Foundation to offer service and leadership to the community. These funds present large variations in size, activity level, fee structure, and longevity.
AAUW Battle Creek Centennial Legacy Community Project Fund
AAUW Fund for Women in Non-Traditional Careers
Established in 2017, the Battle Creek Branch of the American Association of University Women voted to be purposeful in supporting women entering the workforce in nontraditional occupations readily available in the geographic area covered by the Calhoun Intermediate School District. However, there's a low number of trained individuals, especially women, to fill those positions. The AAUW Fund for Women in Non-Traditional Careers is designed to provide educational supplemental assistance to women with things such as books, supplies, tools, licensing, journeyman's card, testing expenses, certifications, etc. The branch feels those who obtain the training they need and possess a solid work ethic will be readily employed.

In the aftermath of the terror and violence of the Kalamazoo shootings a "Help Now!" fund has been established to meet the many needs of the community to grieve, heal and address violence and create safer communities now and well into the future. The uses of the fund may include: 1) Sponsoring community vigils and anti-violence education events and activities; 2) Supporting special financial needs of the victims and their families; 3) Specially designed community counseling, healing and safety services that address the aftermath of violence; 4) Citizen safety planning and violence preparedness efforts; and 5) Other activities directed toward reducing violence. This fund is designed to provide a constructive outlet for those who wish to act with financial gifts in the aftermath of the recent Kalamazoo shootings.

Marylou Bax Memorial Fund
MaryLou Bax, founder of the Family Enrichment Center (FEC) was a foster parent for 34 years, fostering 100 children, providing kinship care for a nephew and adopting 13 children. Her passion for supporting families led her to start a Take A Break Child Care Center over 20 years ago. Now, FEC is taking that vision all the way with a 24-hour daycare to serve our 2nd and 3rd shift families. The purpose of this fund is to raise funds in memory of Marylou Bax for a better security system and playground improvements for the Take A Break Child Care Center.

About the THE STRING PROJECT The project is a series of portraits linking people from around the world using a simple string. When exhibited, all the photos form one continuous line, a visible representation symbolizing an invisible connection. It is both an art and a social experience sharing the idea that we are all connected. THE STRING PROJECT will embark on its World Tour October 2019, visiting five continents, displaying the project in both outdoor and indoor exhibits.
