Youth Alliance Committee
The Youth Alliance Committee (YAC) is the only youth grantmaking committee of the Battle Creek Community Foundation. It is made up of 35 students from both public and private high schools in the greater Battle Creek area: Battle Creek Academy, Battle Creek Central High School, Calhoun Christian High School, Harper Creek High School, Lakeview High School, Pennfield High School, Calhoun Community High School and St. Philip Catholic Central High School. YAC members engage in projects that improve the quality of life for area youth. They seek to empower the lives of young people in Battle Creek and learn about philanthropy firsthand.
YAC members participate in community service projects, distribute grants to programs that impact youth, and also award scholarships to local students. YAC members have dedicated their time to several different organizations in the past such as Kingman Museum, Sprout Urban Farm, Binder Park Zoo, Girls on the Run, Habitat For Humanity and many more. Additionally, YAC members host fundraising and fund development activities to help grow endowment funds held at the Battle Creek Community Foundation.
Interested in becoming a YAC member or know someone who is? Contact Adam Kingston, Program Officer, at (269) 962-2181. YAC recruits new members in December and January for the following school year.
