Ways to Give
Anyone Can Make a Difference
The Community Foundation strives to ensure that all people in our community are able to give to others. You may choose to give during your lifetime, or plan for a future gift through your estate planning. Any size gift is accepted, and funds are pooled together so that all gifts truly make a difference.
Any donor may also choose to contribute to the Fund for Battle Creek instead of establishing their own fund. This unrestricted fund enables us to respond to ever-changing community needs in the broadest way possible to enhance our quality of life. A gift of $5,000 or more becomes a “named” fund within the Fund for Battle Creek, and you become a Fund for Battle Creek Honorary Donor.
At the Community Foundation, we take our motto seriously: for good, for ever, for all! Below are some of the flexible giving options you can select for your charitable giving…either now or for the future.
Outright gifts can include cash, securities, real estate, and life insurance.
Memorial & Honorary Gifts
Special funds can be created to honor or memorialize a loved one.
After assuring that their loved ones have been cared for, donors can use a variety of assets, such as pension plans, life insurance or the proceeds from the sale of a house, for charitable purposes.
Life Income Plans
The Community Foundation can administer charitable remainder unitrusts and annuity trusts, both of which pay lifetime income to you or other named beneficiaries. You can enjoy a fixed income for life regardless of how the stock market performs. You may also qualify for significant tax advantages, while helping your favorite charity. In addition, current rates of return are higher than CDs.
Our staff is eager to talk with you and your financial advisor about these opportunities in person. Call our development department at (269) 962-2181 to discuss the options available.
