The Battle Creek Community Foundation offers people of all means – no matter how great or small their personal resources – an opportunity to give back to the community. Gifts go into endowment funds, and are invested in order to generate earnings.
There are nearly 600 separate endowment funds managed by the Battle Creek Community Foundation. All endowment funds are pooled for investment purposes. They are carefully and responsibly managed in a balanced portfolio. The Community Foundation uses a sound investment strategy designed to maintain the principal balance – gifts and contributions received from the public – while maximizing the return (earnings) on these investments. In this manner, gifts to endowment funds become expressions of caring that keep on giving forever.
The Community Foundation’s Finance and Investment Committee reviews the performance of investment managers on a quarterly basis. Additionally, independent auditors evaluate the financial position of the entire endowment annually. The Battle Creek Community Foundation is fully accountable to the community. Our records are public and our programs are carefully monitored.
At the Battle Creek Community Foundation, it is our pleasure to provide copies of our annual 990 Federal Return (for the last three years) and our audit report, upon request.
